IRON MOUNTAIN — The Houghton Gremlins boys ski team finished second at the U.P. Finals at Pine Mountain Monday. The girls finished fourth

Marquette had 30 points in the boys competition, with Houghton scoring 59, and Ironwood 93.

Eli Heathman led the Gremlins with a third in giant slalom and second in slalom. Jack Haeussler finished fourth in slalom.

Logan Niemi finished eighth in giant slalom. Brady Rubin finished 9th in slalom and giant slalom to round out the Top-10 finishes.

After the races, the selections for All-UP were made. The boys’ First Team included Sam Dehlin of Marquette, Heathman of Houghton, Ben Kuhl of Marquette, and Conner Henry of Marquette The Second Team included Brady Audette of Marquette, Haeussler of Houghton, Logan Holm of Ironwood, and Connor Dunn of Marquette.

In the girls’ competition, Houghton’s Rachel Sun finished 10th in the giant slalom and eighth in the slalom. Lily Marineau finished 10th in the slalom for the other Top-10 finish today.

The All-UP teams were also announced. The First Team included Lucy Stern of Marquette, Estelle Dehlin of Marquette, Madalyn Croney of Marquette, and Ava Stern of Marquette. The Second Team included Sofia Ruesch of Norway, Bella Gaiser of Ironwood, Anna Bernard of Marquette, and Grace Schiltz of Norway.

The boys team is headed to The Highlands next Monday for the state finals.
