Marquette’s MacPhee named Mr. U.P Basketball

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association met last to select the 2024-25 All -UP Boys Basketball awards. Earning top accolades this year was Jacob MacPhee, of Marquette. The six-foot-six senior helped lead the Sentinels to a 22-4 record while averaging a double-double each night (20 points per game and 10 rebounds).

Of local note, was Austin Gordon, of Ewen-Trout Creek. The 6-foot-1 senior was a first-team selection in Division 4. He was Copper Mountain Player of the Year as he averaged 24 points per game.

Also of note, was Houghton’s Luke Hill who earned a Division 1-3 Second Team spot. Joining him in Division 4 were Sam Lee, of L’Anse, Liam Tourtillott, of Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, and Caden Besonen, of Ewen-Trout Creek.
