WestPAC announces boys all-conference teams
HOUGHTON — On Wednesday, the WestPAC announced its all-conference boys teams.
Senior Oskar Kangas of Iron Mountain and junior Ethan Marta of Westwood were named Co-Players of the Year.
Junior A.J. Pizziola of Westwood was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Westwood’s Luke Gray was named Coach of the Year.
The Dream Team featured one Copper Country area player in Houghton senior Luke Hill. Joining him on the team were Ishpeming’s Caden Luoma, Negaunee’s Jordan Guenette, Iron Mountain’s Gerald Sampol-Torres, and Westwood’s Tristan Miller, all seniors.
The First Team – Copper team featured Houghton seniors Isaiah Lawson and Lane Laux, and Calumet seniors Gavin Sturos and Micah Pieti, along with West Iron County senior Elijah Oberlin.
The First Team – Iron team featured Iron Mountain’s Evan Copley and Ian Marttila, Gwinn’s Waylon Sales, Negaunee’s Baron Heslip, and Westwood’s Reid Frustaglio.
The All-Defensive Team featured Calumet senior Jarson Laron, Lawson, Heslip, Ishpeming senior Ethan Corp, and Iron Mountain sophomore Brayden Kassin.
Houghton freshman Terry Nolan, Hancock freshman Gage Chynoweth, Calumet senior Kent Koskela and West Iron County senior Abel Lundin all earned honorable mention for the Copper Division.
Negaunee sophomore Kyle Waterman and senior Holden Meyer, Ishpeming junior Grady Gauthier and Corp, Gwinn senior Dane Wixtrom, Kassin and Pizziola all earned honorable mention for the Iron Division.
