HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech Huskies men’s basketball junior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named the GLIAC’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 16, the league office announced on Monday.

This marks Tomashek’s fifth Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Tomashek, the GLIAC’s Preseason Player of the Year, finished the regular season leading the Huskies to an undefeated road weekend, averaging 25 points on 54.8 percent from the field (17-31), 41.2 percent from 3-point range (7-17) and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe (9-11) to go with five rebounds and 1.5 assists.

The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native recorded his 13th 30-point game of his career, the seventh of the season, in the 71-63 win over Parkside on Saturday and also led the Huskies in scoring with a team-leading 20 points in Thursday’s 78-56 win at Purdue Northwest.

The two wins on the road earned the No. 21 nationally-ranked Huskies the outright GLIAC regular season title for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign.
