Copper Mountain Conference announces all-conference teams
LAKE LINDEN — On Monday, March 3, the Copper Mountain Conference announced their all-conference teams for girls basketball. Lake Linden-Hubbell saw senior Emily Jokela earn Most Valuable Player honors while Ewen-Trout Creek freshman Bree Besonen won Defensive Player of the Year and coach Jacky Besonen earned Coach of the Year honors.
Bree Besonen and Panthers teammate junior Irelynd McGeshick were both named to the Elite Team. Also named were Baraga junior Kara Roberts, L’Anse senior Brooklyn Dompier, and Lake Linden-Hubbell junior Cleo Milkey.
The Copper Country Division First Team included Jokela, Roberts, Dompier, Milkey, and Jeffers junior Taylor Heinonen.
The Porcupine Mountain Division First Team included Bree Besonen, McGeshick, Ewen-Trout Creek junior Emma Besonen, Ironwood junior Jaylyn Novascone, and Bessemer junior Audrey Stone.
The Copper Division Second Team included Baraga freshman Mya Hendrickson, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City senior Evelyn Moilanen, Jeffers junior Mia Nordstrom, L’Anse freshman Kwynn Voskuhl, L’Anse senior Mylee Londo, and Chassell senior Paige Danison.
The Porcupine Mountain Division Second Team included Wakefield-Marenisco sophomore Emma Choronzy, Ironwood senior Hanna Vaughn, Ontonagon senior Alli Bobula, Wakefield-Marenisco junior Emily DelFavero, and Ontonagon junior Kylee Uotilla.
Earning honorable mention in the Copper Country Division were Dollar Bay-Tamarack City junior Aubrey Karppinen, Lake Linden-Hubbell freshman Peyton Goldsworthy, and Baraga senior Megan Mayo.
Earning honorable mention in the Porcupine Mountain Division were Wakefield-Marenisco sophomore Kenly Anderson and junior Carine Cole, Ewen-Trout Creek freshman McKayla Basel, and Watersmeet junior Alana Barajas.
