Tomashek on Top-50 list for Bevo Francis Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Michigan Tech men’s basketball student-athlete Marcus Tomashek is on the Top-50 list for the 2025 Bevo Francis Award. He was previously announced as a Top-100 finalist in mid-January.

The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.  This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.

Tomashek, a Green Bay, Wisconsin, native, continues to showcase his contention for GLIAC Player of the Year, leading the Huskies in scoring with 550 points this season and 23.9 points per game. The point average is tops in the GLIAC and sixth in the country, while his point total for the 2024-25 campaign ranks 12th nationally. Tomashek is shooting 43.3 percent from the field and adds 4.3 rebounds and a team-leading 3.2 assists per outing in 30.7 minutes per game.

2025 marks the eighth year of the Bevo Francis Award. Past winners include Dominez Burnett of Davenport University in 2016, Justin Pitts of Northwest Missouri State University in 2017, Emanuel Terry of Lincoln Memorial University in 2018, Aston Francis of Wheaton College in 2019 and Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020, Trevor Hudgins of Northwest Missouri State in 2022, RJ Sunahara of Nova Southeastern in 2023 and Elijah Malone of Grace in 2024.

The Huskies are 18-6 on the year, in first place of the GLIAC with a 13-3 mark.
