PATRIOTS 76, COPPER KINGS 31
CALUMET — The Westwood Patriots never scored less than 17 points a quarter in a road win over the Calumet Copper Kings boys basketball team Thursday night at the Calumet Gym.
Ethan Marta caught fire for the Patriots in the first quarter, scoring 10 of his game-high 28 points while driving his team to an 18-10 lead after eight minutes.
Micah Pieti, who led the Copper Kings with 10 points, did what he could to match Marta’s hot start, but ultimately came up short. He did score all of the Copper Kings’ points in the second quarter with a timely 3-pointer.
Marta scored another nine points in the second frame, part of a 24-point quarter for the Patriots where they put the game out of reach.
He scored another seven points in the third quarter.
Tristan Miller added 11 points and Preston Argall had 10 for the Patriots in the game as well.
JETS 52, PANTHERS 35
CHASSELL — The Jeffers Jets boys basketball team downed the Chassell Panthers Thursday night at the Ed Helakoski Gym in Chassell.
The Jets were led by Landon Larson, who led all scorers with 20 points.
Brayden Larson paced Chassell with 15 points.
