HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech Huskies senior guard Adam Hobson has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14, the GLIAC office announced Monday.
This marks Hobson’s first honor of his career and the fourth different player for Michigan Tech to earn GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season.
The Stoughton, Wisconsin, native averaged 20 points in a weekend sweep over two ranked opponents. Averaging 29 minutes over two games, he shot 59.1 percent from the field (13-22) and 56.3 percent from 3-point range (9-16) to go with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Hobson led the Black and Gold in scoring with a then-season high 16 points in Thursday’s win over No. 20 Ferris State (75-63), earning the first series sweep of the Bulldogs since the 2013-14 season.
He elevated his season-high in points in Saturday’s win over No. 15 Lake Superior State with 24 points, shooting five-of-six from 3-point land and seven-of-10 from the field, adding five points from the charity stripe.
Saturday’s Senior Day victory put the Huskies alone atop the GLIAC with a league standing of 13-3, remaining undefeated at the SDC Gym (11-0).
Hobson and the rest of the Huskies are back at the SDC Gym for the final time in the regular season on Thursday, hosting Northern Michigan at 7:30 p.m.
