Blue Bolts boys shoot past Panthers
DOLLAR BAY- Ball movement and teamwork were key in the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City’s boys’ 87-42 win over the Chassell Panthers on their home court Tuesday.
“We played unselfish basketball tonight,” stated Blue Bolts’ coach Jesse Kentala. “It was fun to watch the guys share the ball. It was a good team win. It was the first time I have really seen us move the ball that well all season.”
After trading baskets to open the game, the Blue Bolts pushed out to a 12-4 lead. That morphed into a 21-11 score after one. The Blue Bolts biggest quarter was the second where they outscored the Panthers 27-12 and making it a 48-23 lead. The Blue Bolts were on a roll and had no plans of slowing down in the final two quarters.
“Their defense gave us fits, and we had too many turnovers,” noted Chassell coach Joel Larson. “We struggled to put an offensive attack tonight.”
In the third quarter, the Blue Bolts pressure held the Panthers to just nine points while they pushed out to 21. A 40-point lead by the Dollar Bay five to start the fourth forced the running clock and this game ended at 87-46.
In accord with that team spirit, the Blue Bolts had four players in double digit scoring. Baron Colbert led the tallies with 23. Liam Tourtillott followed with 19. Jackson VonDoloski scored 13, and Caleb Kentala sunk 11.
Chassell’s Brayden Larson led the scoring for the Panthers with 16.
