Tomashek named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week
HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech Huskies men’s basketball junior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for Week Seven, the league announced Monday. This is the third Offensive Player of the Week honors for the Black and Gold and the second of the season for Tomashek.
Tomashek, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, led the Huskies with 30 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the 72-70 exhibition win against Green Bay in front of 5,207 fans for Education Day at the Resch Center on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 18).
Tomashek shot 7-for-20 from the field, 4-for-10 from 3-point land and 12-for-15 from the foul line against his hometown team. He poured on 17 points in the second period, including the last seven points for the Huskies to erase a 13-point second-half deficit and hand Green Bay its eighth-straight loss.
The Huskies return to action in the New Year resuming GLIAC play with a roadtrip to Grand Valley State (Jan. 2) and Davenport (Jan. 4).
