PAINESDALE – The Dollar Bay- Tamarack City Blue Bolts wrapped up their first week of basketball with their second win on Wednesday. They defeated the Jeffers Jets 55-37.
It was a game they dominated from the start as they jumped out to a 14-2 start after the first quarter.
“We made our shots and limited (Jeffers’) Landon Larson,” said Blue Bolts coach Jesse Kentala. “He is an athlete who plays hard, and we were able to limit him.”
Larson led the Jets with 18 points- the only player on the team in double figure.
The Jets best quarter was the second as they sunk 15 to make this a 30-17 Blue Bolts lead at half.
The second half was much the same. The Blue Bolts made their shots and the Jeffers squad struggled to follow suit. Dollar Bay outscored their opponent in the final two quarters 25-20 for the win.
“I liked our ball movement,” Kentala added. “I liked how we shared the ball tonight. Caleb (Kentala) controlled the offense and forced some turnovers. He gets the game ball for his work on both ends of the court.”
Caleb had 16 points. Liam Tourtillott led the Blue Bolts with 21 points. Jackson VonDoloski rounded out their top scorers with 10.
New Jets’ coach Chris Saari was pleased with his team’s effort.
“We are a young group working out our jitters,” he stated. ” I liked the energy and the fact that we didn’t get down. We do need to make our shots, however.”
