All U.P. teams and awards announced
Calumet’s Frantti and Koskela among winners
MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association met last week and voted on the 2024 All U.P. teams and award winners for the 11-player football season.
Among those earning spots of the First Team were Calumet’s
Matt Frantti and Kent Koskela. Frantti won a spot as an offensive tackle and Koskela joined him as a defensive end.
According to Calumet’s coach, Josh Frantti, both players are deserving of the recognition.
“Matt was our one dominant lineman for us this year,” said the coach. “He had multiple knockdowns every week and played his best against the top teams in the U.P.”
“Kent was our best defensive end all year and came up with huge sacks when we needed them most,” said Josh. “He was our most reliable defensive player, and teams had to run away from him.”
