To the editor:

The members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4624, Hubbell, thank all who supported our Independence Day celebration. We had a display of patriotism and local history, rummage sale, and bake sale.

Our thanks especially to Donna Desjardin for organizing the rummage sale. Dan Caron provided the sunshade for our outdoor displays. Arnold Air Society cadets Travis Yell and Jacob Chizek from MTU, Francis and Shellie Desjardin, Marsha Chizek, and Maria Chizek assisted throughout the day. Many community members donated goods to be sold, especially Tim Matson, Nancy Fisher, Becky Edwards, and Rory Seppanen, all of whom made several trips with donations. Jean Goldner, Phyllis Vertin, Heather Nagel, Jean Laurie, Dawn Laurie, and Sue Lewis provided bakery.

Our thanks also to all who came by on the 4th to commemorate our nation’s founding and find something to purchase. The proceeds from the day will be funding necessary building renovations so that we can again use our second floor dining area and kitchen to host community events.
