Eila Koski
Oct. 30, 1930 - April 1, 2025

Eila Koski, 94, of Aura, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at U.P. Health Portage in Hancock, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Oct. 30, 1930, in Aura, Eila was the daughter of Arne and Sylvia (Lampinen) Kilpela. She graduated from L’Anse High School in 1948, and married the love of her life, Roy Koski, on June 9, 1951, at the Aura Lutheran Church. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to their family and community.
Eila had a dedicated career in banking, starting as a teller and working her way up to assistant loan officer at the Commercial National Bank, later known as Superior National Bank. She retired after 40 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and integrity.
A woman of deep faith, Eila was an active member of both the United Lutheran Church in L’Anse and the Aura Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church organist. She was also a dedicated community volunteer, playing an instrumental role as a charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Aura Fire Department Auxiliary, Aura Jamboree, and the Aura Community Hall
Eila found joy in life’s simple pleasures–playing cards, gardening, dancing, and preparing home-cooked meals for her family. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, relaxing at camp, and enjoying the beauty of Point Abbaye. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving sons, Calvin (Gail) Koski and Steve (Anne) Koski, both of Aura; her brother, Wilho (Virginia) Kilpela of Marquette; her beloved grandchildren, Kasey, Alissa, Thomas, Matt, and Abby; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eila was preceded in death by her parents, Arne and Sylvia Kilpela; her beloved husband, Roy Koski; and her grandson, Andrew Koski.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 12 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in L’Anse, officiated by Renee Eliason. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Eila will be laid to rest in the Aura Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider donating in honor of Eila, to the Aura Fire Hall or Aura Community Hall.
