HOUGHTON — Christine Ann Goodman, 75, of Houghton, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, after a short illness.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1949, in Hancock to the late Theodore and Viola (Penegor) Messner. She attended Saint Ignatius Loyola Elementary School and graduated from Houghton High School in 1968. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Adrian College in Elementary Education in 1973.
Christine was an elementary school teacher in Marlette, Michigan, and later at Sacred Heart School in Calumet. Upon closure of the school she became a full time homemaker.
On Aug. 21, 1976, she married Charles Goodman of Hancock at Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton by Father Glen Weber. She was a long-time member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Church.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Joel Messner.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; her children David (Laise), Theodore and Val; a grandson, Kai; siblings Deen Messner, Sandra Greene, James Messner, and Kim Messner; and by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Saint Albert the Great University Parish in Houghton with Father Ben Hasse to officiate, concelebrated with Father Romeo Capella and Father John Martignon. Spring burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
Friends may call at St. Albert the Great Church from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. time of the Mass on Saturday.
