Shirley Niemi

She was born in May of 1938 in Trout Creek. She was the daughter of Frank & Elizabeth (Tiura) Aho. She spent early days in Trout Creek, Greenland & Trimountain.

Shirley graduated from Jeffers Highschool. She worked at Woolworths, Snyder Drugs & Shopko as a cashier. She retired in 2013.

She married William Niemi of Hurontown in August of 1959. He preceded her in death in May of 1999.

She was also preceeded in death by her parents, brothers (John & Francis) and two infant sisters (Sally & Verna).

Shirley enjoyed walking, making crafts, visiting family & friends and playing cards.

Survived is a son David (Cherie) Niemi of Dodgeville, a daughter Sharon (Paul) Kochan of KS, two granddaughters Ashley (Cody) Stopel of Dodgeville & Lisa Niemi of TX; two grandsons Noah & Jonah Kochan of KS; great granddaughter Savannah James of TX; brother Carl (Paulette) Aho of White Pine; five sisters, Arlene Larson of Allegan, Jane Putkela of Delton, Dolores (Bill) Davis of Plainwell, Dorothy Kinnunen of Baraga and Evelyn McClung of Ontonagon; several nieces & nephews, cousins and very special friends Cheryl Mattson & family.

A memorial service for Shirley will be held later this year with burial in the Forest hill Cemetery of Houghton
