Robert J. “Bob” Andrews

Ripley — Robert J. “Bob” Andrews, 86, of Ripley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024 at the Omega House in Houghton.

Bob was born on May 7, 1938 in Painesdale, a son of John “Jack” and Eileen (Dulong) Andrews. He later graduated from Hancock High School in 1957 and served in the United States Army from 1961 through 1963. He was employed as a Hancock Police officer for a short time before working for many years at the Hancock A&P Store until it closed. He then worked at Goodwin Motors and at Brunos’s Motors as a handyman and also was in charge of National Car Rental at the Houghton County Airport for a number of years. In his spare time, he would help others who needed assistance around their homes, including clearing their driveways of snow in the winter. He was able to easily make friends of many that he met.

On May 7, 1965 married Margie Seppala at Saint Joseph Church in Hancock. He was a loving husband and father.

Bob was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. He repaired and sold used lawnmowers and snowblowers. He was a proud member of the Ripley Fire Department for many years. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and loved animals, especially cats and dogs.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen in 1966 and by a son, Robert in 2016. He is survived by his wife, Margie, and by a brother, Charles Andrews of Hancock, and by many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Hancock’s Lakeside Cemetery in the spring with Father Corey Litzner officiating, along with honors from the Copper Country Veterans Association and the Ripley Fire Department.
