Susan Irene Wisniewski Christensen
Freeland, Mich — Susan Irene Wisniewski Christensen, aged 51, of Freeland, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends on Dec. 2, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan.
Born in L’Anse, Susan was the cherished daughter of Stefan and Marsha Wisniewski. Raised in Painesdale, Susan is a class of 1991 graduate from Jeffers High School. Susan later completed an associate’s degree in medical management from Delta College, continued on to Davenport University, and worked at Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Midland, helping to coordinate care for the residents.
Susan was a gifted singer, whose angelic voice brought celebration, love, joy and solace to many. Some of her notable performances included lead roles such as Maria in “The Sound of Music,” singing the National Anthem at numerous sports events, graduations, beautiful love songs at weddings and appearing as an extra in the film Street Boss (2009). Susan’s contributions to the music community were vast, including her involvement with the Bay Choral Society and her role as a cantor in Christian music ministry at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Saginaw and St. Agnes Catholic Church in Freeland. The connection of “Sue and Joe” and their shared love for music, has attracted an extensive “music family” where so many great memories of song and dance were made.
Her talents extended beyond music; she was an accomplished artist with a flair for interior design, beautiful wedding and floral arrangements. She gave her time and talent to the community volunteering to bake, serve at soup kitchens and visiting the elderly.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Christensen, and her children: Timothy Rohn (Anna), Tyler Rohn (Amy), Elizabeth Rohn (Mario), and daughter-in-law Tiffany Christensen. Susan was a beloved grandmother to Eli, Erika, Egan, and Valerie. She is also survived by her siblings: Jerry (Trisha) Wisniewski, Stephanie (Mark) Graef, Tanya (Nathan) Maki, Alexis (Chad) Snell, Angelica (Tony) Hebert, Ashley Sudderth, and Stefan (Lori) Wisniewski, as well as brother-in-law Don (Barb) Christensen, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
