John J. “Butch” Elenich

John graduated from Sacred Heart High School with the class of 1956. After high school he worked at Mohar’s Market while attending Michigan Technological University, graduating in 1966 with a B.S. in Business Management. John worked at C&H until it closed, and then he worked as a systems specialist at Michigan Tech until his retirement in 1998.

John loved to putter around the house and watch sports. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus. John is preceded in death by his parents John and Genevieve, his stepfather George Schmitt, and his brother Roland. John is survived by his wife Loralee, his children: Stephen of Hancock, MI, Laura (Judi Sobecki) of Cincinnati, OH, and Richard of Laurium, MI. Also surviving are sister Genevieve (Tom) Abbott of Sioux Falls, SD, brother Michael (Janet) of Ishpeming, MI, Stepsister Marcelline Kunnari of Laurium, MI, three grandchildren (Jason (Samantha), Lisa (John) Kangas, and Tina (Trevor) Ploe) and seven great-grandchildren.

A service for John Elenich will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, Michigan at 11:00am on Saturday, December 21, 2024. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, Michigan on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Burial will take place in Spring 2025. The family would like to thank the staff at Canal View for their dedicated service.
