Carol Plante

SUN CITY, Ariz. — Carol Plante, born on April 10, 1945, in Detroit, passed away peacefully on Dec. 4, 2024, in Arizona, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was 79 years old.

Carol became a Registered Nurse after graduating from West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois. It was during her time in nursing school that Carol met Dale Plante. They married in June 1966.

Carol and Dale raised four children, Christopher (Lori Cologna) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Craig (Corina Karren) of Calumet, Brenna (Dean) Zavadsky of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Dr. Brandon Plante of Marshall, Michigan. Carol’s commitment to family extended to her role as a grandmother to Alexii Plante, Thomas Plante, Samantha Plante, Keira Zavadsky, Kyle Zavadsky, Ian Zavadsky, Emily Plante, and Jacob Plante, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

In their retirement years, Carol and Dale enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona and summer months in Calumet.

Carol is also survived by her step-sister, Cindi Mitchell of Pinon Hills, California, an aunt, Barbara Laurie of Laurium, as well as nieces Cathy Markle Willey and Jenny Markle Herzenstiel, and grand-niece Karen. She cherished her friendships with Joyce (Roger) Kinonen of Michigan, Ichiko (Bill) Mabee of Minnesota, and Linda Voirhees and Alicia Escontrias, both of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Plante, as well as her parents, Charles and Cleo Hoffman, her step-father, John Mitchell, her sister Joyce (Hoffman) Markle and brother-in-law Dion Markle.

Services in celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date in Calumet.
