Alice Harju Ross

She was born Jan. 4, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Charley and Sadie (Cunningham) Quinley. Shortly after her birth, they moved to Detroit.

She was a graduate of Pershing High School, class of 1949.

She was married to Ernest Harju on November 12th, 1955 in Detroit. After he retired, they moved to Laurium. He died on April 25, 1992.

She was married to Albert Ross on July 8, 1994. He died on April 22, 2014.

She is survived by John (Terry) Harju and their family, David Harju and their family, Step-son Ernest (Gloria) Harju and their family, step-daughter Judy (Nathan) Karvonen and their family, Debra (Tim) Hopkins and Dean (Sue) Kanniainen and their daughter, and numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mom enjoyed being with her family and reading and doing crossword puzzles. She belonged to the Copper Country Elks and Calumet VFW.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest & Albert, step-daughter Patricia Kanniainen, step-son Tony Ross, step-grandson Dennis Kanniainen, and Ernest Harju’s sisters and brothers.

A memorial service for Alice Harju Ross will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 146 Tamarack Street,

Laurium, Michigan at Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 at 4 p.m. Visitation will take place from Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 from 3 – 4 p.m. before the service. Internment will take place at Lake View Cemetery.
