Margaret A. “Peggy” Puuri
SHELBY TWP. — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret A. “Peggy” Puuri on August 30, 2024.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore “Ted” Puuri. She was the loving mother of Howard (Linda La Croix) Puuri, Carolyn (Marc) Caspary, Steve (Jamie) Puuri, and Dianne (Dale) Larson. Peggy was a proud grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 18. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Finland, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Peggy & Ted were proud founding members of the Finnish Center Association of Farmington Hills, reflecting her deep pride in her Finnish heritage. She had a lifelong love for cooking and baking, often delighting family and friends with her delicious creations. Gardening, arts and crafts were her passions, and her creativity shone through in all that she did. Peggy had a special knack for making others feel loved and remembered, often sending cards to family and friends on their special occasions. Peggy’s love for Mickey Mouse and camping brought her joy, and she held a special place in her heart for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where she was born and raised. She was a true homemaker in every sense, touching the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Finnish Center Association of Farmington Hills or the American Heart Association.
A celebration of Peggy’s life is tentatively planned for July of 2025, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life. Peggy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private family burial for Peggy will be held in the Liminga Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Ted.
