David S. Norgard

CHASSELL — David S. Norgard, 65, of Chassell and formerly of Hancock, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Canal View in Hancock. He passed away peacefully after a recent cancer diagnosis.

He was born in Hancock on March 26, 1959, a son of the late Norman and Clarice (Ebert) Norgard. David was a 1978 graduate of Hancock Central High School. He was employed at the Parkside Bakery from 1978 until 1987 and then went to work at Upper Peninsula Power Company in the maintenance department from 1987 until retiring after 30 years with the company in 2017. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 510.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Peter Norgard who died on April 26, 2024.

He is survived by a sister, Karen (Don) McDonald, sister, Gina, and brother, Paul, nephews Jeremy (Starrla) McDonald and Rob (Amy) McDonald, by 3 great nephews, a great niece, and by friends and neighbors.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Paulson to officiate. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call for an hour before the services at the funeral home on Friday.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Keweenaw Land Trust (keweenawlandtrust.org) that protects the land and waters of the Keweenaw for future generations. David was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed the beauty and wildlife of the Copper Country all his life.
