Jake Matson

A native of Houghton County, Michigan, son of Thomas Lawrence and Denise Lynn Coponen Matson of Atlantic Mine, Michigan, he was an employee of Aho Concrete and a member of Eastside Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Also surviving are his wife, Katria Raili Kantola Matson of the home; his children, Abigail, Silas, Kailyn, Ella, Sofia, Miles, and Colson Matson; two brothers, Jesse Matson (Maria) of Atlantic Mine, Michigan and Joshua Matson (Amy) of Shelby, North Carolina; three sisters, Maija Kytta (Aaron) of Mohawk, Michigan, Sarah Vander West (Ryan) of Taylors, South Carolina, and Verna Aho (Ezra) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; maternal grandmother, Janet Coponen of Atlantic Mine, Michigan; and paternal grandmother, Helen Matson of Atlantic Mine, Michigan.

He was predeceased by one son, Angel Matson, one brother, Jediah Matson and one sister, Rachael Matson.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023, at Eastside Apostolic Lutheran Church, 2200 Mays Bridge Road, Greer, South Carolina, conducted by Pastor Daniel Hoard. Livestreaming of the service will be available on the YouTube channel: Eastside ALC Media and the Eastside Apostolic Lutheran Church Facebook page. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Drace Avenue, Greer, South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be Silas Matson, Jesse Matson, Joshua Matson, Ezra Aho, Jeremy Corthell, and Emmanuel Lopez.

Honorary escorts will be Ben Kantola, Karl Kantola, Ryan Vander West, Roman Aho, Isaac Saukkola, Isaiah Corthell, Peyton Aho, Hayden Aho, Walker Vander West, Hunter Vander West, Greyson Vander West, and Hudson Vander West.

Visitation will be held 12 – 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023, at Eastside Apostolic Lutheran Church.
