Annette Louise Larson
Ishpeming, MI – On August 30, 2023, Annette Louise Larson’s journey ended as she joined her beloved husband, mother, father, sisters and brothers in their eternal home. During her sunset, Annette was surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Lake Superior Hospice and Teal Lake Assistance Living. She took great comfort in her father-in-law’s poem and often shared it with friends and family.
For the sunset of life is now descending. For far is the journey and weary the miles. But how the heart lifts when greeted with smiles. Joyous the welcome and happy the home. No more shall we wander, no more we roam. – Hilding Larson
Annette, the sixth of seven children, was born to the late Matt and Ida Koski on September 23, 1938, in Laurium, Michigan. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1956 and married her late husband, William B. Larson shortly thereafter. Annette and Bill settled in Ishpeming in 1962, moving to help grow the O.K. Auto Supply business.
Annette never met a stranger; most became her friend for life. She held onto her many friends from high school and never missed a class reunion. She was proud to have served as the first woman chair of Bell’s board, as well as serving on the Michigan State Hospital Auxiliary Board. She was an active and long-standing member of Vasa. Annette returned to college and achieved her x-ray technician degree from Northern Michigan University. She found great purpose through her medical work. Annette’s busy life was filled with joy; playing bridge with her weekly bridge club, cooking and entertaining often at camp on the Dead River Basin, wintering at Eagle Creek in Naples Florida, traveling extensively with Bill, and crocheting, crafting, and decorating.
Annette cherished her growing family. She is survived her three children Debra Larson, Brian Larson (Ellen), and Melanie Larson (Rodney Winebrenner), her five grandchildren, Matthew Larson (Jen), Christina Larson-Angulo (Juan Carlos Angulo), Holland Vlieg (Nichoas), Shay Wilberger (Casandra Pinaire), and Mandy Russell, and four great grandchildren, Major Larson, Camila Angulo, Karsten Vlieg, and Ainsley Vlieg, Annette positively impacted the life of many including her niece Nancy and her friend Michael.
