Attempted break in of ATM investigated

Possible connection to vehicle theft

HOUGHTON — Police are turning to the public for assistance in an ongoing investigation. According to a release from the Houghton City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Breakwater Credit Union on Shelden Avenue at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found an ATM had been broken into. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that two male subjects had attempted the break in earlier that morning.

Police believe the incident is connected to a vehicle theft in South Range. The vehicle was recovered in Dodgeville. The investigation into the stolen truck is continuing. The investigation into these incidents is being conducted by Houghton Police and the Michigan State Police.
