The 30th Keweenaw Old Fashioned Christmas Bazaar will take place on Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Calumet High School gymnasium. The craft show began as a way to give hunters’ spouses or partners around the Calumet area something to come together and enjoy during the opening weekend of regular firearm deer season.

The show has grown in size and participants over the years with this year pulling in a few more new faces to the creator tables with products including candles, baby attire, deodorants, homemade soaps, natural skincare products and Christmas decor.

To celebrate the 30th year of the bazaar, there will be three gift basket drawings. Lynn Anderson heads the event and has said that she wants the program to give back to the participants and the community for supporting the event for the past several years.

“We want to give back and besides the fact that we’re all super, super grateful for all the people that come out and support the craft show, for all of us little crafters,” Anderson said. “And thank you to the Calumet schools. Calumet schools have been super good to us, and we couldn’t do without them,  or the community with their love for coming to find all our little treasures that we sell.”

Anderson herself will be selling her creations at the event that she has created from a multitude of different household items she has picked up from secondhand stores. She crafts Christmas decor that portray holiday themed scenes out of items she recycles and tries to capture what she believes children perceive and find magical during the Christmas season. She has made Christmas scene decor out of things such as cake pans and placed separate old decorative pieces together on top to create something new and brings joy to observers.

Other types of crafts that may be available at the show this year include quilts, mittens and hats recycled from sweaters, jewelry, carpets and Christmas wreaths.

Starting at $2.99/week.
