This past Saturday morning, the Easter Bunny came hopping down the sidewalk to start the second annual Quincy Green Easter egg hunt. The city of Hancock hosted the event. Multiple colorful eggs were hidden throughout Quincy Green.

Parents and children waited outside on the sidewalk briefly near the entryway to the Quincy Green lawn prior to the beginning of the Easter egg hunt. This year’s event attendance surpassed last year’s.

The event opened to families and children to find the Easter eggs hidden across the Quincy Green lawn. A few hundred children participated.

“The city of Hancock wants to do events like this for the citizens,” said Todd Gast, with community development, “and this is a great space to hold events.”

New this year, a Tykes and Toddler Zone was created for small children only, a smaller area sectioned off with barriers to allow toddlers and younger children to search separately from older children.

All the older children searched throughout the whole lawn. The Easter Bunny was hopping around. Several families stopped to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. The hidden eggs contained candy and assorted prizes.

Members of the Triangle Fraternity from Michigan Tech volunteered for the first time to help hide the over 3300 eggs.

Spencer Phillips, from the fraternity, stated his favorite part  “was watching the kids find the eggs.”

The Triangle Fraternity hopes to plan on helping out next year again.

Starting at $2.99/week.
