April 25
• DEADLINE TODAY: Alpha Delta Kappa, Gamma Alpha chapter, is a sorority of local women educators which is offering scholarships to Upper Peninsula Houghton-Baraga-Keweenaw county teachers who are enrolled in a graduate program related to education and to H-B-K county high school graduates who are enrolled as undergraduates in a teacher preparation program with two or more years of studies completed. April 26
• Dorcas Society/LWML of SS Peter & Paul Lutheran, 1010 Madeleine, Houghton, is holding its Spring Bazaar from noon – 3 p.m. Funds raised go toward missions, both near and far. Bake Sale, Tea Table, Craft/Used Books, Silent Auction.
• Spring Craft Show, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Doelle Senior Center in Tapiola. A raffle will be held and lunch will be offered.
• Easter Egg Hunt, 1 p.m. C J Sullivan Elementary School, L’Anse. Sponsored by the Baraga County Next Gen Team the Easter Egg Hunt is for kids ages 1 through 12. The hunt for children aged 5 and under will begin at 1:00. Children ages 6 through 12 will start their hunt at 1:30. There is no charge, but all children must be registered before their event. Registration opens at 12:30 at the C.J. Sullivan Elementary School playground. There is no charge, and all kids are welcome.
April 27
• The next Let’s Eat Community meal in Chassell will be on the Sunday after Easter, April 27. The meal is free to all guests and takes place between 4 and 5:30 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on US-41 in Chassell. The menu includes Sloppy Joes, one of our all-time favorites, vegetables, dessert and fruit. And, of course, the meal is free to all guests
April 30
• Clean out the Closet” used book sale at the Lake Linden-Hubbell School/Public Library from 5 – 7 p.m. All books are sold 2/$1.00. Enter the library at the back of the high school. Please, no book donations at this time.
• There will be a blood drive at the Chassell High School from 2 to 5 p.m. The U.P. Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive at Chassell High School. Walk-ins are welcome.
May 1
• The National Day of Prayer is May 1 with four local locations opening their doors to host united prayer for our community and nation. Please join us. Locations and times are:
Noon to 2 p.m., House of Prayer, (G&A Garden Center) 400 W. Sharon, Houghton
Noon to 2 p.m., Harvest Church of the Keweenaw, 55263 Old Country Rd. Calumet
4 to 6 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church, 400 Ingot St. Hancock
5 to 7 p.m., Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, 1116 E. Atlantic St. Hancock
