Jeffers boys shut down Dollar Bay

DOLLAR BAY Jeffers pitched a shutout in the first quarter, then got its offense going in the second to drop Dollar Bay 50-28 in Copper Country Conference play Tuesday.

After scoring all eight points in the first quarter, the Jets outscored the Bays 17-7 in the second quarter to ensure safe passage back to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall.

Dollar Bay picked up its offensive output, scoring 21 of its 28 in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

"We need to find ways to score," Bays coach Jesse Kentala said.

Damon Boyd led DB (0-7, 0-3 CCC) with 10 points. The Bays are at Chassell Jan. 21.

Alex Outinen knocked down three treys and led all scorers with 19 points. Myles Rajala kicked in 11 for the Jets, now 3-1 in CCC play, who will travel to Ontonagon Thursday.

Hancock 46, Baraga 25

BARAGA Hancock ran its win streak to five with a comprehensive road win at Baraga Tuesday.

Alex Almquist had the Vikings outmatched, contributing 20 points, while Riley Engman pitched in 15 more from the backcourt.

The Bulldogs built a comfortable 29-10 lead by the halfway mark and stand at 6-3 overall going into a Thursday home game with Calumet.

Baraga was led by seven points from Zac Owens. The Vikings (2-6) are at Lake Linden-Hubbell on Thursday.
