Nassiri, who moved to Dollar Bay from Los Angeles last year, is charged with 2nd-degree homicide in the December death of his wife Sanaz Nezami. In court Monday, Nassiri waived his preliminary hearing and will be arraigned in circuit court on Wednesday.

The couple had recently moved to Dollar Bay. Nezami had enrolled in Michigan Technological University for a master's degree in environmental engineering.

Nassiri is accused of second-degree murder, a felony punishable by life in prison. The charge states he had intent to kill but the act was not premeditated.

Nassiri's arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in Houghton County Circuit Court. He remains in the Houghton County Jail on $5 million bond.
