To the editor:
"Workers of the world arise! You have nothing to lose but your chains!" That statement by Karl Marx was intended to incite class warfare.
Starting with the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1917 and then in two dozen other countries after that, Marxist - Leninists (Communists) "liberated" the workers by making them slaves of the state (Slavery is the absence of economic freedom).
The Communist Party functioned like a monopoly corporation. Radical socialists ruled those countries as state capitalists with incomes and power much greater than that of the the workers they claimed to represent in a "classless" society.
Radical limousine liberals ("progressives") also want to transform America into something our Founding Fathers never intended.
True equality comes from freedom for all, but leftists try to achieve it through social engineering that destroys freedom.
Liberals are pro-choice about abortion but anti-choice about other things, such as which schools students attend, if workers join unions or not, and whether or not we buy medical insurance.
Many years ago I had an interesting discussion with my auto insurance agent. He said a woman told him the government should have homes for the elderly they would be required to live in.
Each would have a small room and go to a common dining area to eat when a bell rang.
It all became very clear after he asked if she was willing to take one of those rooms when her time came. "Oh, no!" She answered, "I'll be running the place!"
Too much freedom has already been destroyed by people who want to control every aspect of our lives.
