Joseph C. Chevalier

CALUMET - Joseph C. Chevalier, 67, a resident of Calumet, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Houghton County Medical Care Facitlity where he had been a patient for the past week.

He was born September 2, 1946, in Bovine, Mich., a son of Earl and Elina (Kangas) Chevalier. He attended local schools and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from the Calumet Village Street Department in 2010 due to ill health.

On September 6, 1969, Joseph married the former Yvonne Therrian in Houghton. Joe was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by brother, Rueben Willams; and sister, Evie Marlor.

He is survived by wife, Yvonne; four sons, William (Sheri) of Calumet, Stephen of Gwinn, James of Calumet and Michael (Jessica) of Gwinn; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kayla, Cody and Garrett; one great-grandson, Easton Rylan; brother, Donald of Detroit.

Private family services will be held in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.

The Erickson-Crowley- Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
