LAKE LINDEN - Carl Horsma, 94, resident of Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell, passed away on July 3, 2013.

He was born on January 31, 1919, in Hubbell.

At the age of two, he moved to Small Traverse. At seven years old he moved to Gay, where he attended school.

In 1941, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he was a tank commander under General Patton.

Carl married Lorraine Racine on September 21, 1946.

He worked for C&H for 22 years, until 1968. He then went to work for the Houghton County Road Commission for 17 years, retiring from there in 1981.

Carl was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Laurium. He was also an active lifetime-member of the VFW Post 4624 in Hubbell.

He is survived by, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friend, Peter Heikka.

The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Pastor Charles Jousma to officiate.
