MASON - Michael Wesley Wisti, age 73, died Nov. 27, 2012.
He was born June 20, 1939, in Chassell, to William and Hilda (Lantto) Wisti. Michael graduated from Chassell High School in 1956 and was a member of the Chassell Panthers Class D State Champion Boys Basketball team.
Michael graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1960, earning his Master's and Doctorate degrees in Metallurgy from Michigan State University in 1975.
He served his country in the United States National Guard. He co-founded Atmosphere Annealing, Inc., in 1978, serving as Company President until his retirement in 1999.
Michael liked to work in the garden, enjoyed sports and was a committed supporter of progressive ideals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew Wisti; sister-in-law, Irene (Aho) Wisti; and brother-in-law, William Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lori (Chapman) Wisti; two sons, Michael William Wisti and partner Norah Labiner, Leif (Jodi) Wisti; beloved grandchildren, Lydia and Henry Wisti; brothers, Theodore Wisti, Gordon (Edith) Wisti; sister-in-law, Ruth Wisti; sister, Marion (Wisti) Brown and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
Graveside services for Michael will be held at 2 pm Saturday, May 18, 2013, in the Chassell Cemetery, with Rev. D.J. Rasner to officiate.
