Reading Month a success

April 12, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

The faculty, staff and students of Houghton Elementary school thank all the individuals and organizations who helped make our recent Reading Month such a success.

Thank you to the parents who came to help with our Family Night. A special thank you to Coast Guard Station Portage for coming into the classrooms to read to our students and also for the interesting presentation on ice rescues.

Thank you also to Pat's Foods/Festival Foods and Walmart for their generous donations of cookies, frosting and sprinkles.

Thank you to Mrs. Trewartha's fifth grade class for the great job they did with our final assembly. We also appreciate all the time parents and family members spent reading with their children. We are excited to have read 511,477 minutes during the month of March.

With your help during March, we discovered that, "Reading Gives Us Wings."
