LANTANA, Fla. - Adele (Loukinen) Martin, 80, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and family on April 7, 2013. She had been a resident of the Hamlin Place Nursing Home, Lantana, Fla., since June 2012.
Adele was born in Hancock on July 23, 1932, and raised on the Loukinen Farm at Princess Pointe, rural Lake Linden. She was a graduate of the Princess Pointe one room schoolhouse. In 1944, she moved to Laurium, with her father, Edward and stepmother, Hennie. She graduated from Calumet High School.
On July 28, 1951, she married Donald Martin in Laurium and then lived in Taylor, Mich., before retiring to Lantana, Fla., In 1982.
Adele, being an active Christian all her life, was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Laurium, and also the Maranatha Bible Church in Lantana.
Adele was preceded in death by her mother, Anna; father, Edward; stepmother, Hennie; sisters, Hilda, Hilma, Holly and Svea (Tillie); brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Ben, Bill, Martin and Sven; and her daughter, Nancy.
Surviving are her husband, Donald of Lantana, Fla.; daughter, Marcia Spellmire of Tucson, Ariz.; grandson, Grant Harris of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Lantana, Fla., and Laurium.
Spring burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials in Adele's name to the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 645, Laurium, MI 49913, or the Maranatha Bible Church, 900 S. Broadway, Lantana, FL, 33462.
