Carl Kenneth “Kenny” Kangas

LAKE LINDEN - Carl Kenneth Kangas, 81, a former resident of the Dollar Bay area, died at his Lake Linden residence Tuesday morning, Mar. 19, 2013.

He was born Jan. 11, 1932, to the late Charles and Sophie (Fraki) Kangas of Hancock.

He served the U.S. Air Force in Korea during the Korean Conflict, the Coast Guard in Detroit and in the Sea Bees in Hancock until his retirement from the service. He was also a fire fighter for the Dollar Bay Fire Department for 29 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Mary Kangas of Lake Linden; his sons, Kenneth Paul of Escanaba, Charles (Susie) of Peshtigo, Wis., Michael (Val) of Oconto Falls, Wis., and Ruben Kangas; his daughters, Kathryn (Jack) Brown of Traverse City and Margaret (Timothy) Quast of Deltona, Fla.; step-sons, John Jr. (Lillian) Benson of Calumet and Ernest James Benson of Calumet; by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no services or visitation.

The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of arrangements.
