NEGAUNEE - Hancock got two goals in each period and picked up a pair on the power play in defeating Negaunee 6-0 in Lake Superior Hockey Conference play Monday.
The Bulldogs (12-8, 7-1 LSHC) now know they'll go down to the last week of the season with a chance at a share of the league championship, which they can earn with home wins over Kingsford (Feb. 19) and Houghton (Feb. 21).
William Lucier earned the shutout with 20 saves as Hancock allowed a goal or fewer for the seventh time in the last eight games.
"We moved the puck well. We got a couple of power play goals and when William had to make a save, he made a couple of nice saves," Hancock coach Dan Rouleau said.
Tanner Kearly and Alex Hill opened the scoring with goals about four minutes apart in the first period, followed by Brett Lepisto and Kyle Hauswirth in the second. Lepisto and Dylan Hanke finished off the Miners in the third.
Hanke had three assists and Hunter Kero two for Hancock, which put 50 shots on goal. The Bulldogs travel to Eagle River, Wis., to play Northland Pines Thursday.
