When no more crime, no more guns

January 25, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

Here we go again. "Guns are killing people." Yeah, right. I could set a gun on the table and I would not be killed. People kill people. When a way is found (which already exists) to stop someone from killing another, the world will be a better place.

I have been hearing on the networks that gun owners must be held responsible for any misuse of their firearms. There are already laws to cover that. If a firearm is stolen, we have one day to report it. If we carry (a) concealed (weapon), we can't drink. It's all logical. Carrying a firearm is an awesome responsibility. It weighs heavy on a person's mind, but the police can't be everywhere.

The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to have a good guy with a gun. When there is no more crime, there will be no need for guns except for sporting purposes.
