ONTONAGON - Ontonagon made it a two-win week Thursday, pulling away from Watersmeet for a 44-26 non-league girls' basketball win.

"I thought after a first half which was kind of a pedestrian half, we took care of the ball much better of in the third and fourth quarters and spread the ball around," Ontonagon coach Dick Franti said.

The Glads (7-2) only led 20-17 at the break, but put some distance into the Nimrods by outscoring them 12-4 in the third quarter.

Brilynn Pollard led Ontonagon with 12 points. The Gladiators spread their scoring around, getting at least four points from seven different players.

On the other hand, Watersmeet had only three scorers, led by Michaela Burke's game-high 13.

Ontonagon, which won the JV game, has a key Copper Country Conference trip to Lake Linden-Hubbell tonight.
