SAULT STE. MARIE - Sault Ste. Marie's top-end talent proved too much for Jeffers to handle at the Cooper Hockey Showcase, as the host Blue Devils took a 6-2 decision.
Chris Hazen and Willem Gauthier potted a pair of goals apiece as the Blue Devils had the Jets down 4-0 by the midway point of the second period.
"They have three lines that they can put on the ice and it wasn't like you could key on anybody," Jeffers coach David Bekkala said.
Still, Bekkala was proud of the effort, particularly on the defensive end.
"We did a very nice job getting rid of the rebounds. We had some passion for the puck," he said.
The Jets got on the board with 32 seconds left in the second on a goal from Brady Guilbault.
Sault added two more in the third before Mitchell Kumpula had a goal to remember, scoring unassisted from the opposite goal line on a clear the goaltender misplayed.
Jeffers got 45 saves from goaltender Dax Durocher. The Jets (7-6) face Cheboygan today.
