HOUGHTON - Michigan Tech Athletics and Lamers Bus Lines have partnered together to wrap one of Lamers' buses in Michigan Tech colors and logos. The result is a 45-foot traveling billboard for Michigan Tech.
"This is something we wanted to do for our student-athletes, fans and university," said Michigan Tech's Vice President for Student Affairs Les Cook. "We wrapped the vehicles our recruiters drive for admissions and received tons of great feedback from that. This is going to be on a much larger scale."
Michigan Tech teams log thousands of miles annually on charter buses. Lamers has provided transportation for the Huskies for the last five years.

The new Huskies-themed motor coach is displayed in front of the Student Development Complex at Michigan Technological University Tuesday. The bus is a partnership between Michigan Tech Athletics and Lamers Bus Lines.
"Lamers Bus Lines appreciates providing motor coach service for Michigan Tech, and is pleased to promote the university and the Huskies' athletic programs with the Huskies motor coach wrap," said Jon Evenson, manager of Lamers Wausau (Wis.) Terminal. "We're confident the Michigan Tech Huskies imagery on our Lamers motor coach will be a useful tool in bringing recognition and attention to Michigan Tech and Huskies athletics."
The newly wrapped bus will make its maiden voyage to Big Rapids, Mich., and Allendale, Mich., this weekend as it transports the Tech basketball teams to doubleheaders at Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
In conjunction with the first trip in the black and gold bus, Michigan Tech athletics is hosting a photo contest on Twitter. Fans tweeting a picture of the bus during its trip and using the hashtag #followthehuskies will have a chance to win a $25 gift card to University Images. The top three photos will be selected, then voted on by fans on Facebook to determine the winner.
