SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Donald P. Hendrickson, age 70, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Care Center after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Calumet, a son of Donald A. and Catherine (Crnkovich) Hendrickson.
Don attended Calumet High School, graduating in 1960. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963.
On Oct. 6, 1962, he married Barbara Plute in Calumet and the couple moved to Sheboygan Falls in 1968. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Don was employed by the Kohler Company from 1968 until his retirement in 1999. He was a proud member of U.A.W. 833 and the Kohler Quarter Century Club. After retirement, Don enjoyed caring for his yard, washing and polishing his vehicles, including his 1964 T-Bird and visiting with his neighbors. Don was an avid Detroit Lions fan.
Surviving are his loving wife, Barb; his children, David (Debi) Hendrickson of Town Lima and Joanne "Missy" Hendrickson of Sheboygan; Don's special granddaughter, Taylor Hendrickson; two brothers, Bob (Candy) Hendrickson of Pickerel, Wis. and Paul (Becky) Wickstrom of Calumet; a sister, Kim (Steve) Reinking of Holland, Mich.; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Hendrickson, who died serving his country in Okinawa, Japan in June of 1945. Also his mother, Catherine (Crnkovich) Hendrickson-Wickstrom; his step-father, Al Wickstrom; a brother, Joseph Wickstrom.
Funeral services for Don will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road. Rev. Tom Fleischmann, Sheboygan County Chaplain will officiate. Committal rites and military honors will be accorded at the Chapel of Eternal Light, Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Westview from 11 a.m. until time of services.
Memorial funds have been established in Don's name to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and the Sheboygan County Chaplaincy.
