Bruno G. Staisil

BALTIC - Bruno G. Staisil, 86, a resident of Baltic, died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, with family by his side.

He was born in Painesdale on Jan. 24, 1926, a son of the late Stanley and Ursula (Zelmuncius) Staisil and attended the Adams Township schools.

On Nov. 8, 1947, he was married to the former Ruth E. Sweet. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1989.

Bruno worked at the Donken Sawmill, Stella Cheese, and for over twenty years, was employed for Michigan Tech at Daniell Heights, retiring in 1988.

Bruno was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was a life member of the Ranger Post 6165 V.F.W. of South Range.

He enjoyed wood working, carpentry, and was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved his grandkids and family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Staisil of Phoenix, Ariz., Marge Beck of Farmington Hills, Mich., Jean (Terry) Ullrich of Appleton, Wis., Joy (Jeff) Blanker of Waterville, Ohio; one son, Scott Staisil of Phoenix, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marion Sweet of Grand Haven, Mich.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents and wife, Bruno was also preceded in death by a son, George; one sister, Ann Peterson; and four brothers, Stanley, Felix, Anton "Tony", and Alphonse "Al"; and a son-in-law, Max Beck.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Kathy and Bob Bonini for the special care they have given to Bruno over the last few years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, where Ranger Post will conduct memorial rites prior to the start of the service.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday in the mortuary. Spring burial with military rites will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
