Steven M. Paavilainen

HANCOCK - Steven M. Paavilainen, 56, a resident of Hancock, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Nov. 28, 2012.

He was born Nov. 11, 1956, in Hancock, a son of the late John and Vieno (Kallio) Paavilainen. He was raised in Painesdale and graduated from Jeffers High School.

Mr. Paavilainen was a veteran having served with the United States Navy SEA-BEE's.

Following his time in the service, Steven moved to the Sheboygan area before returning to the Copper Country to make his home in Hancock.

Steven enjoyed metal detecting and surfing the web.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Gary.

Surviving are his son, Matthew Paavilainen of Sheboygan, Wis.; his sister, Nancy Savela of Hancock; his brothers, Eric Paavilainen of Hancock, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Paavilainen of W. Va. and Roger Paavilainen of Sheboygan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

As requested, no service will take place and spring burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in South Range.
