Tech takes big win into GLIAC play

SOMERS, Wis. - The Michigan Tech women's basketball team led from start to finish in a 66-53 win at No. 16 Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday.

"We made a goal to hold them under 55 points, and we did that today," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "Our defense really stepped up today."

The Huskies held the Rangers to just 34 percent (19-for-56) from the floor and 20 first-half points. UWP only made one of its 14 3-point attempts.

Sam Hoyt led all scorers with a season-high 23 points. The senior guard made three consecutive 3-pointers late in the first half for the Huskies. She tallied four assists.

Junior Taylor Stippel was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.

Freshman Kylie Moxley scored a career-high eight points and grabbed six rebounds for Tech.
