Compromise now

November 16, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The American people have spoken. President Barack Obama will take the helm of our country for the next four years. It has been the most intense political fight in recent American history; this political fight has brought out many truths of politics.

Here are a few facts or observations made during this political fight for power. First, many Republican candidates are simply liars, saying what they think their present audience wants to hear. Second, they are only concerned about their wealth and protecting self-interests. Third, the Republicans have spent billions of dollars (three times the amount of Democrats) as an attempt to buy their way into high offices of America. Shame on all of them; let us hope that lessons have been learned from the latest political drama.

After Republicans have some time to lick their wounds of defeat, let all Americans focus on rebuilding our country. Put political differences and fighting aside and work together for a common good. America faces colossal challenges with up coming fiscal cliff issues, economic uncertainty, and the looming national debt abyss. The only way to solve these challenges is through bipartisanship.
