To the editor:
Dan Benishek, I read your letter to the editor in The Daily Mining Gazette and I agree with your that our Upper Peninsula is a very special place to live and raise a family. I do believe most of our residents would express the same feelings of the wonder and beauty to be blessed with living here. Mere words are cheap but actions speak louder.
I have seen your campaign ads on TV with you dressed in scrubs. I am not impressed (Doctor Dan). I do not care about your career as a doctor, good or bad. That is all in the past. Congressman Dan is the record I care about.
You state you want to save Medicare, when in fact you want to force seniors to buy into private insurance with vouchers. Oh my, that is wrong, it is called a Government Assist Program, is there a difference? If so, explain it to me. I have not seen a vote in Congress that you voted to help the people of the U.P. of Michigan, in the 1st District. You have voted for lifetime medical coverage for all congressmen, which covers you, Congressman Dan. You want your coverage, but what about the residents of the 1st District?
I vote to fire you, and replace you with Gary McDowell. He has assured me he will do all he can to help the seniors and residents of the 1st District.
The Republican Party of Michigan must feel they need a "yes man" in Lansing for they are spending a truck load of money to spin what Matt Huuki has voted for to look good. Matt has voted against seniors, homeowners, low income, retirees, young families, without regard to the needs of the people of the 110th District. I vote to fire you, also, and replace you with Scott Dianda, who will work to change the mistakes made by you in Lansing.
On Nov. 6, everyone get out to vote, every vote counts.
Vote Democrat the party that cares about people.
