HOUGHTON - Ashley Ruotsala made the most of her first pitching performance of the season, tossing a complete-game one-hitter as Sayen's Auto blanked Aspirus Keweenaw 12-0 in Portage Lake Little League Major (age 11-12) play Tuesday.
Sayen's established the lead with a five-run first inning on three walks, an error and Sam Keskimaki's two-RBI single. Sayen's added another five-spot in the second to put the game out of reach.
Ruotsala did the rest, striking out four and walking none.
At the plate, Dawson Rajala and Keskimaki led Sayen's with two hits each.
Kevin's Self Storage doubled up The Library 16-8 behind seven RBIs from Quentin Stachowiak.
Stachowiak's bases-clearing triple helped Kevin's to a six-run second inning. He followed it up with a three-run homer in his next plate appearance, in the third inning. Stachowiak added a triple later to cap off the evening.
Elias Rajala added four hits for the winners, Dawson Kero and Travis Pietila put up two apiece.
Walter Crist tripled as part of his two-hit night for Library.
Alex Nordstrom was the winning pitcher.
